Friday, April 16:
Concert in the Park – free concert featuring The Gimbles at Turner Park (600 N. Belt Line Rd.) in Grand Prairie. Music begins at 7 p.m. Bring blankets and lawn chairs and a picnic, or buy concessions there.

Free Antique Appraisal – stop by Heritage Auction Galleries in Dallas (3500 Maple Ave #17) for a free appraisal of your valuables, like art, memorabilia and jewelry. Lasts from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Some consignments will be accepted.
Earth Day Celebration, Calloway’s Nursery – Go by their Fort Worth or Plano locations for several free events. At 10:15 a.m. there will be an organic gardening clinic, and kids’ clinics are scheduled for 9:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. There will be hourly door prize drawings from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. They’re at 2651 S. Hulen in FW and 1000 Preston Rd. in Plano.
Earth Day Celebration, River Legacy Living Science Center – stop by this free event in Arlington (703 NW Green Oaks Blvd.) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for guided nature walks, children’s activities, and workshops.
Asian Art Fest – Bring the kids to the Kimbell Art Center from 1-4 p .m. for a family festival featuring Asian art. You can hear a Japanese drumming group, try making your own artwork, and check out the museum exhibits.
Lowe’s Build and Grow – stop by your local Lowe’s from 10-11 a.m. and have your kid build a free wooden planter. To register, visit
Barnes & Noble Storytime – the BN locations in Sundance Square and on Overton Ridge host Super Saturday storytime at 11 a.m.
Live Green Expo, Plano Centre, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Learn how to use water more efficiently, play games and win prizes and enter for door prizes. Address is 2000 E. Spring Creek Pkway in Plano.

Sunday, April 18:
Festival of Balloons – check out impressive balloon installations and sculptures from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sheraton Dallas (400 N. Olive St.) This is a public event capping off the weekend’s World Balloon Convention. Admission is $5, but kids 12 and under are free.
Beach Street Local Market, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Up and coming farmer’s market at 3789 N. Beach Street in FW.
