Today's Austin Groupon = Free Admission to DFW-Area Gardens

This deal is featured today on Austin’s Groupon site, but I thought I’d post it here too, since it’s kind of a backdoor way to get free admission to several DFW nature facilities. Right now, you can get a 1-year family membership to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center for just $32. Memberships are normally $65, so that’s a savings of 51 percent. As a member, you’ll get lots of benefits:

Admission for you, another adult, and all your children or grandchildren younger than 18
Early admission & discounts on plant sales
10 percent discount at the Center’s store
1-year subscription to the center’s Wildflower magazine, as well as a 1-year sub to Better Homes & Gardens
Free or discounted admission at other gardens across the U.S., including the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge, Clark Gardens in Weatherford, and Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden

Out of curiosity, I called the Fort Worth Botanic Garden and found that Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center members get free admission to the Japanese Garden and Conservatory portions of the garden after April 4. The Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge says that Wildflower Center members get free admission to the entire facility.

Of course, if you’re in the Austin area, you can enjoy the Wildflower Center itself, which features four trails of blooming native wildflowers, a butterfly garden, and stuff just for kids. Visit www.wildflower.org for more info.

You must activate your Wildflower Center membership by June 15, either in person, by phone or online. Limit of 1 Groupon membership per family, but you can buy multiple Groupons to give to others.
