It’s officially cold! You will spend the next few months battling cabin fever as you try to protect the kids from the coldest hours of the day. Don’t fret- we’ve rounded up the best spots in Dallas-Fort Worth for keeping warm while the kids run around. You can visit them all- just be sure to mind the rules, supervise the children, and check for closings before you head out.

KIDZ Indoor Playground– This awesome play structure is inside Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano and is one of the best indoor playgrounds in the DFW area. They’re free and open to the public for kids 10 and under. Monday through Friday, they are open from 9 am to 4:30 pm, plus late hours on Wednesdays and the weekends.
Galleria Dallas– Visit the Children’s Play Place on Level 3 of the Galleria. The playground is for kids 42″ and shorter and their caregivers. They are open throughout mall hours.
The Tubes– Head down to Irving Bible Church for their two awesome indoor playgrounds. The Tubes are a giant play structure for climbing, crawling, and sliding. The Bugs, right next door, are for kids 36″ and shorter. They’re open to the public without a fee from 7 am to 7 pm.
The Plano Playground– Located on the lower level of The Shops at Willow Bend, this large indoor playground is for kids who are 42 inches and shorter and their caregivers. They have a gazebo, slides, a teeter-totter, fire truck, and much more. Go during regular mall hours.
Stonebriar Mall– You’ll find the play area here next to Dillard’s on the lower level of the mall. Everything is made of a quality soft foam including pretend animals for riding, a log cabin to climb through, kid-sized foam trains, and more. There is also plenty of seating for the caregivers. This playground is open during regular mall hours for kids 42″ and shorter.
Watermark Tree Fort– Visit the Watermark Dallas Church for a towering structure made of stairs, balconies, bridges, slides, and more. This play area is great for both younger and older kids, just make sure all are supervised at all times and that the big kids are careful with the smaller ones. The Tree Fort is free and open to the public from 9 am to 6 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. They open at 1 pm on Sunday and Wednesday. Saturday, they are open from 9 am to 3 pm.
Wesley’s Playground– White’s Chapel United Methodist Church is for kids up to age 11! Make sure the kids wear socks because they have to take off their shoes before entering. This DFW-area indoor playground is free and open at various times every single day!
Playscape at The Hills Church– Their North Richland Hills campus offers open play for kids 5th grade and under. There are two levels, with a separate area for smaller kids. The playscape is open Monday through Thursday from 5- 6:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 3- 5 pm.
PlayZone– Located inside Milestone Church, this multi-level collection of slides, obstacle courses, and climbing structures is great for kids 10 and under. There is a separate area for kids under 4. They’re free and open to the public 10 am- 2 pm Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays.
Playstreet Museum– Named one of the best things to do with kids in DFW, this interactive museum is designed for independent play. Everything is scaled to fit children, from building stations to the play kitchen! There is one location coming soon in Fort Worth and multiple locations in Dallas. Admission for kids 1- 8 years old is just $11.50 and older siblings are welcome as long as they respect the younger children. Regular hours are Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and by appointment on the weekends.
The Kids Play Co.– This is one playground that mom, dad, AND kids will love! There are a variety of play structures, plus free wifi and coffee! Admission starts at $10.50 per child over age 1. They’re open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and they offer memberships!
The Coop– Kids of all ages will love The Coop, located in Frisco. They have traditional play structures like the ball pit as well as the BEAM Interactive Gaming Floor. Free wifi, an espresso bar, and magazines are available for parents. Admission is $10 per child and they offer monthly passes. Both parents and kids will be shoe-free so bring your socks!
Obstacle Warrior Kids– If your kids love American Ninja Warrior, they will never want to leave this place! Try the running wall, the rings, the hills, the foam blocks, and more. There is even dodge ball! Kids need to wear closed-toed tennis shoes and a waiver must be filled out. Their pricing depends on the age of the child and how long you want to play. They’re closed Mondays, have classes on Tuesdays, and are open for the public Wednesday through Sunday with varying hours.
Spark!– This incredible playground will leave you speechless. With elevated tunnels, floating car-couches, a giant Lite Brite, and much more, the kids will never get bored. Admission is $10 per person and the playground is recommended for kids aged 2- 12. They’re only open to the public on weekends.
Free Play– This is the best place to bring teens and tweens- even mom and dad will love it! Entry is $10 for unlimited play on 95+ retro arcade games including pinball! Their hours vary but they are open every day. They also have food and a bar!
Little Humans Big Fun– This is a very different type of indoor playground! Sure, they have a play structure with a fort but they also have an enormous Lite Brite, coloring stations, stacking objects, play cars, space ships, and more. Big Humans can make themselves a latte or grab a bottle of water and enjoy the WIFI, comfy couches, and more. Admission is $13 for the first Little Human and $11 for each additional child.
