On Wednesday, Aug. 10, various Tarrant County groups and companies will sponsor the Back to School Roundup, an event that enables certain Tarrant County families to receive school supplies for free.
Here are the details: To qualify, you must be a resident of Tarrant County, have children 4-18 years old enrolled in public school, and meet the 2011 Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. (Not sure? Check here.) You must pre-register for the fair by July 30. Pre-registration will take place at various locales around Tarrant County; see a schedule here. Bring this form with you when you come to the pre-registration, as well as a picture ID, proof of residency (like a utility bill), and proof of income (pay stub, Medicaid letter, etc). Note that a limited number of vouchers will be given at each registration, so show up early!
The Back to School Roundup will take place at The Will Rogers Memorial Center, 3401 W. Lancaster Ave. While you’re there, your kids can also get free haircuts, free immunizations, free dental screenings, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and more.
If you live in Dallas, pre-register in person by July 30 for the Mayor’s Back to School Fair, which happens Aug. 4 at Fair Park.
