For fun on the cheap, nothing can beat these DFW-area events this weekend:
The North Texas Irish Festival starts tonight in Dallas’ Fair Park, and if you get there before 7 p.m., your admission is free; otherwise, it goes up to $10 for Friday night and $15 for all day Saturday. Listen to Irish music, snack on Irish food, learn about Irish history, and more.
What’s better than wine? Getting it for free. Tivoli Wines in Colleyville holds complimentary wine tastings at its store (62 Main St.) every Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. Every week, a different varietal or wine region is featured; this week, Malbec is on the menu. Call the store at 817-581-9463 with questions.
Catch a showing of “Seeing Through the Fence,” a documentary about the food chain and food production, at 1919 Hemphill. The show starts at 7 p.m. Friday and admission is free, though donations are gladly accepted.
Kids can build a free wood raceway project this weekend at the Home Depot’s Kids Workshop. In addition to receiving the completed project, kids who participate will also get a free orange Home Depot apron. The clinics are held between 9 a.m. and noon on Saturdays; visit this link to call your store for the specific time.
