Cliburn Tickets on the CheapThe Cliburn Festival, featuring the works of Chopin, is happening this week from March 5-8 at the Kimbell Art Museum. Tickets are usually $35 apiece. However, there are a few ways to get seats for cheaper. Here are some ways to get discounts:

Be a student. Students can get tickets for $10 each, beginning 1 hour before each performance. The website doesn’t say, but I would assume you’d need to bring your student ID along.

Wait until the last minute. One hour before each sold-out performance, a line will form at the venue box office to sell tickets in case of last-minute cancellations or no-shows. If any seats are available, you can get them for $20 apiece. As always, standby tickets aren’t guaranteed, and there’s no promise you’ll be able to sit with your companion. (These last-minute deals apply not only to the Cliburn Festival performances, but to all Cliburn performances. However, I’m told that last-minute discounts aren’t available for the Cliburn at the Bass series, since the seating capacity is so great that a sell-out never happens.)

Go to a Cliburn Session. These are relaxed performances held in unusual venues, and all tickets are $20 each. The next Cliburn Session will be March 19 at The Live Oak. (Buy ahead of time, since at-the-door tickets are $25.)
